There is an isolation in modern life that is universal and familiar. It can be seen in the awe of our surroundings or in the simple act of carrying on with our lives. I am drawn to the wonder and curiosity of these moments and let them arrive to me rather than chase them down.
I feel that an honest portrait of someone can tell a short history of the world. It has the power to reach back and remind us who we are and how we behave in the face of loneliness as we relate to it in our everyday lives. These works present a reflection of people in solitude trying to connect with their environment.
all the arts lose virtue
Against the essential reality
Of creatures going about their business among the equally
Earnest elements of nature.
